Study in Canada from India
To study in Canada you need an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), in most cases a provincial or territorial attestation letter, proof of funds, and a study permit from IRCC. Colleges offer diplomas with a practical focus; universities offer degrees. Check that your programme is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit before you enrol.

What does it cost?
Tuition depends on the institution and programme. IRCC sets the minimum living-cost funds you must show, and updates it from time to time. You also pay the study permit and biometrics fees, and provincial health insurance or private cover where required.
Intakes and processing
Main intakes are September, January and May. Apply to institutions 6 to 9 months ahead. IRCC publishes current study permit processing times for applications from India.
Step by step
- Shortlist programmes and check PGWP eligibility.
- Apply and receive a letter of acceptance.
- Get your provincial or territorial attestation letter (usually arranged by the institution).
- Arrange funds: tuition deposit and living-cost proof (for example a GIC).
- Apply for the study permit online and give biometrics.
- Complete medicals if asked; receive the port of entry letter.
