MBBS in Kazakhstan for Indian students
Kazakhstan has several medical universities with English-medium programmes for international students, in cities such as Almaty, Astana, Semey and Karaganda. Programme structures have changed over time, so the course length and internship must be checked against NMC rules for your year of entry before you apply.
NMC rules you must meet
To practise medicine in India after studying abroad, the National Medical Commission (NMC) Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021 require, in summary:
- NEET-UG qualification before admission.
- A course of at least 54 months, plus at least 12 months of internship at the same foreign institution.
- The whole course taught in English and completed at one university.
- Eligibility for a licence to practise medicine in the country where you studied.
- After returning: a further 12-month supervised internship in India and passing the licensing exam (FMGE, to be replaced by NExT).

How does admission work?
- Qualify NEET-UG and check your 12th PCB marks meet NMC and university minimums.
- Shortlist universities after checking each programme against NMC rules.
- Apply with your documents and receive an admission or invitation letter.
- Pay the first-year fee as the university instructs – directly to the university, never in cash to an agent.
- Apply for the student visa and get documents legalised or apostilled if required.
- Attend our pre-departure briefing, travel and complete registration on arrival.
Documents checklist
- Passport valid well beyond the course start date.
- 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates.
- NEET-UG score card.
- Birth certificate, photographs and medical fitness certificate (including an HIV test where required).
- Bank or sponsor documents as the embassy requires.
When is the intake?
Most universities admit in September. Apply after NEET-UG results.
Living in Kazakhstan
- Climate: continental, with cold winters and warm summers.
- Food: Indian mess at many hostels with Indian students; confirm per university.
- Safety: follow university and embassy advice; register with the Embassy of India.
- Indian community: sizeable student groups in the main medical cities.
